A standby generator, installed by someone who works your town.
In the Litchfield Hills an outage can mean no heat, no water from the well and no sump pump for days. Tell us about your house and we pass your request to one licensed installer who serves your town. Free, and nobody else gets your number.
Start by choosing your town on the map.
- Installers hold the Connecticut electrical and gas licenses the job needs. We check before they get requests.
- One installer per request. We don't sell it to a list.
Tell us about the house
Four facts decide what an installer needs to know before the site visit: your town, your fuel, whether you're on a well, and what you want to keep running.
After you send it:
- Within one business day we pass it to the installer who serves your town.
- They call you to set up a site visit and size the unit.
- Any quote and contract is between you and them. We may check later that they called.
What it costs installed in Connecticut
A standby generator is a project, not an appliance: the unit, a transfer switch, a pad, the electrical tie-in, the gas or propane line and the permit. These are installed prices Connecticut installers publish.
Installed prices published by Connecticut installers, 2025–2026, including the transfer switch, gas or propane connection and permit. National averages run lower because they mix in small and portable units. Propane tank purchase or lease is usually separate.
Before you send a request
Is this free?
Yes. You never pay Litchfield Hills Home Desk anything. Installers may pay us for referrals. Any quote, price or contract is between you and the installer.
Why only one installer?
Sites that send your number to five companies get you five calls. We send your request to one licensed installer who works your town. If you want a second quote afterwards, tell us and we'll say whether we can help.
Standby or portable?
We only handle standby generators: permanently installed units that start on their own when the power drops, wired through a transfer switch and fed by propane or natural gas. Portable generators are a different purchase.
Can I get one installed before winter?
Sometimes. Lead time depends on the installer's schedule, equipment stock, the permit, and getting a propane tank set or gas line run. The earlier you ask, the better your odds.
Who are you?
Litchfield Hills Home Desk is run by Kennedy Enterprises LLC. We don't install generators. We check that the installer holds the Connecticut licenses the work requires and carries insurance before they receive any requests.
Which towns do you cover?
All 26 towns in Litchfield County, from Salisbury and Sharon to New Milford, Torrington and Woodbury. If you're just over the line, send the request and we'll tell you honestly whether the installer goes there.
